UPDATE! IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS

Thank you for your responses to our call for feedback on this issue!

After collecting member comments, researching and fact-finding about the issue and an open conversation with the City Clerk at the luncheon meeting about the ordinance and its potential benefits -- the Chamber voted to formally oppose the ordinance that would mandate installation of Knox Boxes(c).

City Council unanimously tables Knox Box(c) ordinance

Feedback to the Mayor and City Council from the Chamber and other business owners outlining cost prohibitions and key security concerns led to the Council voting unanimously to table the proposed Knox(c) Box  ordinance. It will not get a second reading.

CDC announces shortened quarantine guidance
Last week, the CDC announced updated quarantine guidance for those who test positive for COVID-19. If a person tests positive and they are either asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (fever-free for 24 hours), they only need to quarantine for 5 days. However, they should wear a well-fitting mask in any public space for the subsequent 5 days. This new guidance comes as data shows that people are most contagious one to two days prior to onset of symptoms and the two to three days after. The CDC has posted guidance on its website, including what to do if exposed to COVID-19.
